The Voice is back for a new season, with many talented singers hoping to impress the judges and audience members with their vocal abilities. Season 23 of the popular competing series will premiere on Monday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
Neil Salsich, 34, one of the competitors, began his career at a young age. He began playing his father’s instrument at the age of six and has been singing regularly since the age of 18. Neil is a member of the group The Mighty Pines, but he will appear as an individual on The Voice.
Neil Salsich, a musician, grew up in south St. Louis and attended St. Margaret’s of Scotland School. He later attended Louis University High School. Lizzie and Maya Salsich are Neil Salsich’s younger sisters. When Salsich was six years old, he learned to use his father’s radio because he wanted to listen to Ramblin’ Man on repeat.
Neil gave his first instrumental concert at the age of 16 at Hartford Coffee. He graduated from college in 2012 and went on to form the group Acoustics Anonymous. In 2016, Salsich, the band’s main vocalist, changed the name to The Mighty Pines. The group is currently touring across the country and has opened for artists such as The Dead South, Parker Millsap, Fruition, and Sam Bush. “Country, folk, bluegrass, blues, soul, and jazz” are influences on their music.
Among the band’s most well-known recordings are Late Last Night, Ideas Arrive Running, and Time Slows Down. Neil frequently remixes other artists’ songs, and his style is “60s and 70s incorporated.” He has over 1400 Instagram followers and performs frequently in local taverns, cafés, and clubs.
Season 23 of The Voice will follow the same format as the previous season, with candidates joining the show only after impressing the evaluators with their vocals during open tryouts. Chance the Rapper, Niall Horan, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton, the season’s judges, will not be able to see the performer’s face and will only move their revolving seats if they want the contestants on their teams for the next round:
The judges will have the ability to “take” one candidate from the opposing squad during the preliminary stages. They will also be able to “save” one of their competitors from elimination. The winner of the challenge will receive $100,000 in cash as well as an audio CD.
The Voice is summarized by NBC as follows:
“Contestants are selected through public tryouts and instructed by a group of four trainers who lead and evaluate their performances in search of America’s next great talent.”
NBC will air new episodes of The Voice every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. The difficult series will be available on the Peacock streaming app.
