According to authorities, the 54-year-old Mistry, who succeeded Ratan Tata as chairman of the Tata Sons before being deposed in India’s most publicized boardroom coup, died on Sunday (September 4) in an automobile accident in Palghar, Maharashtra.
According to credible sources, Mr. Mistry was driving a Mercedes from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
The wrecked remains of the silver Mercedes car were visible in photos taken at the scene of the accident. It is reported that apparently, a road barrier caused the car to crash in the Charoti neighborhood of Palghar, 135 kilometers from Mumbai.
He is survived by his only two children Firoz Mistry and Zahan Mistry. Per records Firoz, his first child would be in his late 20s having been born in the early 90s. Rohiqa Chagla happens to be his biological mother.
